CoQ10 Health
Nutrient that the body needs in small amounts to function and stay healthy. CoQ10 helps the mitochondria (small structures of the cell) to produce energy. It is an antioxidant that helps prevent the damage that free radicals (highly reactive chemicals) cause to cells. CoQ10 is soluble in fats (can be dissolved in fats and oils) and is found in fatty fish, beef, soy, peanuts and spinach.
It is under study for the prevention and treatment of some types of cancer and heart disease, and to alleviate the side effects that some cancer treatments cause. Also called coenzyme Q10, Q10, ubiquinone, and vitamin Q10.
According to a study published by Science Direct ( https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jfca.2017.07.036 )
and collected by Olive Oil Times, there is a direct relationship between the height at which the olive is grown and the benefits of its oil for health, since, the higher the altitude, the higher the levels of CoQ10, tocopherols and compounds phenolics of their oils and, therefore, more beneficial for health, since they are three recognized antioxidants with anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties.
Benefits Extra Virgin Olive Oil of altitude
- The higher the altitude, the higher the levels of CoQ10, tocopherols and phenolic compounds. With these properties depending on the altitude, these oils provide antioxidants with anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties.
- AOVE was extracted from arbequina olives in 11 regions and analyzed in a laboratory to determine the levels of anti-inflammatory, anti-carcinogenic, and antioxidant elements. In Spain, Granada had the second highest altitude with the lowest rainfall levels.
The results determined that the oil manufactured in Granada has a higher percentage in CoQ10 (85.3%).
